Hi guys! I can’t believe it’s April already, I mean is it just me or is this year just flying by?! But that means that it’s that time of the month again where I get to chat you through some of the products I’ve been loving using throughout March. March is my favourite time of the year (not just because it’s my birthday ;)) but because I love spring. The weather starts to improve, flowers flourish and everything just looks that extra pretty. I might do a blog post on my spring top picks so let me know if that’s something you might like to read? But for now I’m going to stop my chitter chatter and let you read about the products!
The first item that I absolutely adore is my NAKED 1 Palette by Urban Decay. This has been my go-to eye shadow palette for quite a long time now as it has the most gorgeous array of colours including 2 matte and 10 shimmery shades in order to create a variety of makeup looks. The products are packaged in a brown velvet case with a magnetic closure and small mirror on the inside. The way I can best describe it to you is a warm toned neutral palette with 12 pigmented shades consisting of: Virgin, Sin, Naked, Sidecar, Buck, Half-Baked, Smog, Darkhorse, Toasted, Hustle, Creep and Gunmetal. The shades I use most are Virgin, Sin, Naked, Sidecar, Buck and Half-Baked which can each be paired together to create stunning natural eye looks which I have had many compliments on. What I like best about the palette is that the trendy shades suit and look good on all skin types and eye colours and the fact the shades are such high quality and last all day, even without an eye shadow base, and there is still no creasing. The texture of the eyeshadows are great and they blend really easily using the two sided brush that comes with the palette. The only annoying thing is that the lid keeps closing so I have to put something on the lid to keep it open when I am applying my makeup- however that being said, the product itself is amazing! I have repurchased the palette once and I would love to purchase again because I really rate it. If you want me to go into this palette in more detail ie what I use each colour for and/or different looks with this palette please let me know and I’ll do a quick mini post on it!
One skincare brand that I just cannot live without is Liz Earle. On the market are the most amazing products that really transform your skin and you can notice a difference after using these products almost instantly! This month I have been using the Cleanse and Polish and Instant Boost Skin Tonic every day twice a day. Before I used this product, I had never applied a cleanser to a dry face, but these products are now a staple in my skincare routine and will be forever more! The bottle of the cleanser pumps out just the right amount so this ensures no mess! It has the most divine smell which is really natural and similar to the Alpha H exfoliator, like walking into a spa! The results are seriously just something else. I have dry/combination skin at the moment which is such a pain but the cleanser rehydrated my skin and made it SO smooth as well as instantly removing redness caused by any spots. Since using the product I have had so many compliments on how clear my skin is- and well for all of you asking me what has done this- it’s Liz Earle! The skin tonic also smells so fresh and it also feels really fresh on the skin. My face looks so radiant and clean and has soaked up all of the goodness! I will definitely repurchase as I don’t think I could turn back after using such remarkable products!
Another skincare product I have been using a lot in March is Origins Mask Maximiser. I was very kindly sent a sample of this new skincare product by Origins along with a sample of two of their face masks- clear improvement and drink up intensive. I have loved the clear improvement mask for a while and still use it to this day since it featured in my January Favourites, but this mask maximiser has totally enhanced the formula. Using the mask maximiser has optimised my skin’s coniditon getting it primed for the mask to work its best. I was a bit sceptical at first as I didn’t think it would do much but guys I was so wrong! I was so surprised at the difference, it’s a god send! Firstly the mask dried so quickly and I could really feel the mask working to its full potential as it absorbed into the skin. It made the mask a lot easier to remove and left my skin feeling super soft and smooth and blackheads left in the distant past. I love Origins products and can’t wait to test more and since I was sent the sample I have purchased a full-sized bottle!
One thing we all know is how much I love getting my nails done and I tend to opt for gels just because it doesn’t damage the nail at all, if anything it strengthens them! However, it was getting an expensive habit so around Christmas time I decided to purchase new Jessica Phenom Nail Polishes. It promises the colour and shine of a gel manicure but without the fuss of a UV light and removal simply by an ordinary nail varnish remover. I honestly love it so much! Around December/January time I was using the red polish as it resembled festivity but more recently I have been using the white polish as it is more spring/summery but occasionally still use the red on nights out. I find that the polish dries really quickly, and when I say quickly, I mean in about 3 minutes- max. The base coat, polish and top coat all work really well together to form a hard coat that is really shiny and bright. The formulas are really great and the consistency of the polish itself is thin and glossy. The applicator brush is the perfect size to give full coverage of the nail bed and it applies nicely- I feel that 2 coats of the polish itself is enough to intensify the colour and provide a glowing finish. These have lasted on me for 10 days chip-free and are still wearable. I can’t wait to purchase some paler/pastel colours for spring and summer!
A makeup item I have using a lot is the Seventeen Define and Contour Kit. I recently caught wind of this new contouring kit from watching youtubers videos and decided I try it out for myself. Seventeen is one of my favourite drugstore brands as they are always bringing out new unique items. Packaging-wise this product is sturdy and has a big mirror inside the compact for easy application. It’s a total dupe for NARS products which I also love! I really liked the fact that both shades were matte which produces a subtle look but still looks like you’ve made the effort. The product comes in fair or medium and I opted for the fair compact because of my fair skin although I also have the medium compact for when I’ve had a tan! It’s super easy to build to get the look you want and looks so natural on. It’s really simple, yet effective and contouring is made easy by the little card showing you exactly how to do it and where. If you’re new to contouring, give this little compact a go!
A lippy product I’ve worn pretty much every day in March was the Bare Minerals Pop of Passion Lip Oil-Balm in Blushing Passion. This product is great because my lips have been quite dry and flaky recently but this oil-rich lip balm hydrates and nourishes them as well as delivering a luscious colour that looks as good as it feels. It looks super natural and easily brightens any makeup look. I know it’s only a small thing but the packaging is really pretty and easy to distinguish in your make up bag. I was dubious of the colour transmission but it conveys a vibrant colour that I would expect from any lipstick. I find that it also softens lips and disguises cracks. I think the shade I bought was limited edition or part of a set because I can’t seem to find it on their website, but there are 8 gorgeous shades suitable for everyday looks or evening wear and I will definitely be purchasing more!
The last product on my list is a candle. If you know me then you’ll know that I LOVE candles! They are so pretty and totally relaxing! The one in my March favourites was a Yankee Candle called Pink Sands. It was part of a spring set that I purchased and I had finished it so I had to purchase a smaller one to feature in my pictures! It is a single wick candle that produces a sweet aroma designed to relax you and divert your mind away from any daily life stressors. Until we have smellivision I’m just going to have to describe it to you as best I can haha! It smells really fresh and fragrant without being too over-powering. It’s also a really pretty pink colour which is just aesthetic to look at 😉
So there’s a little, well long, summary of my March favourites and why I have been using them during the past month. I hope you enjoyed reading about them. What have you been loving this March? To everyone that’s broken up for Easter, enjoy your time off and good luck with the revision to all of you that have exams coming up! Have a good week and see you back here next Sunday!
